Struggling With A Skill?

Pretty much all of the higher skill movements in CrossFit, Calisthenics, Strongman, etc - things like snatches and muscle ups - rely on the neural output and muscle base that have been developed earlier… It’s kind of obvious when you say it out loud, but if you can’t contract your pecs or lats at will, you’re going to struggle to strengthen them, and if you haven’t strengthened them, you probably won’t be able to use them in any meaningful way… And this means that your muscle up will likely be either non-existent or incredibly ugly and painful…
If you are struggling to unlock a certain skill, consider taking a step back…
- Find and build the structural muscles - think glute max, TVA, pecs and lats.
- Incorporate exercises that strengthen joint stabilizers
- Reintroduce the skill once the structure and stabilizers are solid.
You'll have a much easier time - trust me.
Come find me if you need help!
