The Main Benefit Of Kettlebells

There are plenty of benefits to training with Kettlebells; to quote directly from Pavel and his book “Enter The Kettlebell”:
- Develop all-purpose strength, to easily handle the toughest and most unexpected demands.
- Maximize staying power - because the last round decides all.
- Forge a fighter's physique - because the form must follow the function.
- With just two kettlebell exercises, takes you from raw newbie to solid contender.
- Well-conditioned, flexible, resilient and muscular in all the right places.
- Jumps you to the next level of physical excellence.
- Become a Man Among Men - propels you to a Special Forces level of conditioning.
And that’s all wonderful! A little sensationalist perhaps, and more than a little aggressive, but wonderful stuff nonetheless…
For me personally, the main benefit is saving time...
I can come home from work, walk the dog, and then get a full body training session done in around 10 minutes…
Every 30 seconds for 10 (8 or 12) rounds, 10x KB Swing
Every 30 seconds for 10 (8 or 12) rounds, 10x Band Resisted Press Ups
Build all the qualities listed above in around 10 minutes. No trip to the gym needed. I can even throw the ball for Kilo too while I’m at it.
I worked my way up to comfortably completing it with 48kg, and that’s how I became a man among men…
Full disclosure: 1/ This isn’t the only training session I do, and 2/ the man among men part is very, very debateable…
Now, obviously you need the equipment at your house for this… I’m preempting the first question here: strengthshop.co.uk do decent quality kettlebells… The next question would probably be what size… When you are at a gym next, play around with a few and see what feels right. And finally, what if you can’t complete the 10x10 swings in 5 minutes? Don't worry about the time frame; extend the rest periods; reduce the reps; pepper in different size KBs; there’s plenty of things you can adjust…
Cheers,
~ Collins
