Work with your body, not against it...

A lot of people equate heavier lifts, faster times and numbers on the scale with progress and transformation, and they will push for those things until they break. Break being the key word. What if there was a different way? What if didn't have to break? What if, instead of completing X amount of reps with Y weight to Z standards, we focused on awareness? What if we listened to what your body is telling you? What if instead of asking “did you get to the right position?”, we asked “how did you get there?”... It's important to understand that two people can arrive at the same position, visually, with two completely different strategies… One holds the breath, collapses into the joints and survives the rep, the other moves with organised tension, safety and grace…  What if you started doing pull ups with your lats instead displacing the tension to your traps and forearms? Don’t you think that that’s a better long term strategy? Don’t you think it might help with that shoulder discomfort? What if we braced using the lower abs and obliques instead of just taking all the tension in your inflamed lower back? When you move with awareness, that’s when the real progress and transformation take place.  Stop going through the motions. Connect. Slow down, tune in, and move with your body instead of against it - that’s when the pain free gains come rolling in.
